The members of Faith Baptist Tabernacle having been baptized by immersion upon professing faith in Jesus Christ do confess this abbreviated version of our faith:
(A) The divine inspiration of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament (11 Tim 3:16; 11 Peter 1:20,21); and their absolute sufficiency as our guide in matters of religion and life (Luke 4:4; Ps, 119:105)
(B) The existence of one true and living God, sustaining the personal relation of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the same in essence and equal in attributes (I John 5:7; Matt 28:19)
(C) The total and universal depravity of the human race. (Rom 3:10-19; Ps 14:2,3)
(D) The wisdom of God in choosing and setting apart from the world a people for himself before the foundation of the world, and acknowledging that God’s choice was made for His own good pleasure. (Eph 1:4,5; Rom 8:29,30; Rom 9:11,12)
(E) The ministry and work of the Holy Spirit in performing the will of God by saving those God has chosen by working repentance and saving faith in Jesus Christ. (John 3:8; John 6:37; John 12:32; Acts 13:48) And that all those chosen will repent and confess Jesus Christ. (John 6:44; John 12:32; Ps 65:4)
(F) The efficacy of the shed blood of Christ to atone for all those who repent and confess Jesus Christ. (Isa 53:11,12; Matt 20:28; John 17:9)
(G) The eternal salvation of all these in (D), (E), and (F) above. (John 6:39; John 10:27,29)
(H) The responsibility of all true believers to make known by life and by word the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Mark 16:15; Matt 28:19,20)
(I) God’s purpose in conforming His people to the image of Christ, outwardly and inwardly, that is, the holy nature of the life and walk of the believer. (Rom 12:1,1; I Cor 11:28-32)
(J) The Supreme and sole authority of Christ as the head of the Church. (Eph 1:22,23; 5:23)
(K) The visible, bodily, glorious return of Jesus Christ to earth. (John 14:1-3; Acts 1:11)
(L) The resurrection of the dead, both just and unjust at the last day. (John 5:28; Matt 25:31-46)
(M) The General Judgment followed by the everlasting happiness of the righteous and the everlasting misery of the wicked. (Matt 25:34, 41, 46)
(N) Immersion in water in the name of the Trinity, as the only Gospel baptism. (Matt 28:19; Acts 8:36-39)
(O) Participation at Communion for those satisfying church membership requirements. (I Cor 11:25,26; Rom 6:3-5)
(P) Acknowledging no God but Christ and no authority but His Word. (John 12:48; 14:8,9)
(Q) On Sexuality: 1. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in, outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism,
fornication, adultery, pornography, and all other uncleanness are sinful perversions of God’s gift of
sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance. (Gen 2:24; 19:5; 13; 26:8,9; I Cor 5:1; 6:9; I Thess 4:1-8; Heb 13:4) 2. We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman. (Gen 2:24; Rom 7:2; I Cor 7:10; Eph 5:22,23)
(R) Abortion: We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life. Abortion is murder. We reject any teaching that abortions of pregnancies due to rape, incest, birth defects, gender selection, birth or population control, of the physical or mental well-being of the mother are acceptable. (Job 3:16; Ps 51:5; 139:14-16; Isa 44:24; 49:1, 5; Gen 21:22-15)
(S) That lawsuits between believers of a personal level are forbidden with the exception of recovering compensation covered by insurance policies and wherein no malice or slander is involved.
(T) And that our Statement of Faith is consistent with the historical position of Baptists down through the ages and may be found more fully explained in the London Baptist Confession of 1689, or in the Philadelphia Confession of 1742, as well as The Baptist Faith and Message adopted in 1963
